David is a prominent member of the small circle of people around the world still producing daguerreotypes. He can produce anything from a portrait in the manner of the 19C Daguerreotype to 3D Daguerreotypes and the world’s largest Daguerreotype of many square feet (see the Guinness Book of Records).
This workshop is intended for those seeking to broaden their understanding of the early years of Photography with practical demonstrations of Niepce’s asphaltum processes including ‘the first photograph, the heliograph, those processes produced in co-operation with Daguerre and the Daguerreotype itself. This workshop will be the foundation for Part 2 where students will make their own Daguerreotypes
