Two workshops of two days
30/31 August and 14 & 15 September
with

Price
£275 (including materials)
This three-day workshop will introduce participants to the art of gravure printing using photopolymer plates. Some of the most beautiful photographic images of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were printed using etched copper plates. Combined with digital transparencies, modern polymer plates allow access to this traditional process and the production of pictures printed, through a roller press, in ink on art paper.
The topics covered will include:
Introduction to the intaglio printing process
Preparation of image and the ink-jet transparency
Preparing, exposing and developing the polymer plate
Preparing the paper
Inking and wiping the plate
Pulling the print
Handling and drying the print
By the end of the workshop, participants will have produced calibrated digital transparencies and used them to make at least two intaglio prints using photopolymer plates.
