The Art of the Silver Gelatine Photograph

WORKSHOPS AT HANDS-ON PICTURES

about Branka Jukic

The art of photography has developed over a period of 180 years. In that time photographers have arisen who do not go with the flow but develop their own styles which may not accord with the current fashion but, for that reason, have longer lasting significance. Branka is one of these. Her cultural background means that the sources of her image making are wider; this results in a richer content.
Branka has a style which is hard to copy. It has led to her achieving significant awards for her distinctive work which sells through art galleries.
Her weekend workshops cover two days of photography and hands-on dark room work using traditional silver gelatine materials. Silver gelatine has become an ‘alternative process’ over the last few years. As with other ‘alternative processes’ the art and the craft involved in making a silver gelatine print are worth pursuing for the beauty which is unique to the process.
